Following is the timeline for the 2007-2008 NCLB-Blue Ribbon Schools Program:

September: The Secretary sends a letter of invitation to the Chief State School Officers (CSSO), Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) requesting the submission of information for nominated schools.
November 19: Responses are due from the CSSO to the Department.
December 3: The Department sends letters of invitation with applications to the schools recommended by the CSSO.
February 15: Completed applications are due to the Department.
September: The Secretary announces the 2008 No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools.
Fall 2008: Two people from each school, the principal and a teacher, will be invited to a ceremony in Washington, DC where the schools will receive a plaque and a flag signifying their status.
