Timeline

Competitions are held annually.
Next competition: FY 2009. Applications for the FY 2009 competition will likely be available in early August 2008 with an anticipated closing date in early October 2008.
Last competition: FY 2008. The FY 2008 competition closed on October 15, 2007.

Please note: For the required fields of study, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores must be submitted at the time of application package submission.

Current Application

The Department requires that the Javits Fellowship application be submitted in hardcopy only. Please refer to the "Application and Submission Information" section of the Notice Inviting Applications for New Awards when submitting an application.

Other Applicant Information

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required as part of the application for a Javits fellowship in order to complete the financial need calculation. Applicants may obtain a copy of the FAFSA at the Web address below or from their institution's financial aid office. Note: Applicants are encouraged to submit the FAFSA electronically since the electronic filing is faster (as much as 7 to 14 days faster) than filing a paper FAFSA.
