Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona Continues Return to School Road Trip in Michigan to Spotlight Safe Return to In-Person Learning

On Thursday, Sept. 23, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona continues the Return to School Road Trip—a bus tour to showcase students and communities safely returning to in-person learning—with several events in Michigan. First, Secretary Cardona will visit Mount Pleasant for a tour of Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College. There he will participate in a welcome ceremony, visit classes and meet with students.

In the afternoon, he will visit Lansing for a tour of the Capital Area Community Services' Early Childhood Program. Secretary Cardona's last stop will be at Focus: HOPE in Detroit, where the Education Department is partnering with Reading Is Fundamental, for a late afternoon family-oriented reading event.

Throughout the bus tour week—Sept.20-24—Secretary Cardona, Deputy Secretary Cindy Marten, and local school leaders are joining students, parents, educators, and school communities for events that highlight schools and communities that have safely welcomed students back to in-person learning.
