The Power Up Series presented by the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Excellence, Equity, and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans (Initiative) consists of a collection of national, local, and virtual engagements in the Black community. The Power Up Series provides opportunities to share federal resources with local Black communities directly from the source through information, innovation, and inspiration.

Tomorrow, Jan 24, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will visit the Washington D.C., Office of the State Superintendent of Education’s (OSSE) Advanced Technical Center where he will announce new Career Connected High School grant awards and then participate in a tour and a roundtable discussion with students on the importance of access to CTE programming. A press gaggle with Secretary Cardona will follow this event.

On Monday, Jan. 22, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Parkland, Florida, where he will join U.S. Representative Jared Moskowitz, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Jen Easterly, and other county and school officials for a private walkthrough of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of the tragic February 14, 2018 shooting. This guided visitation is closed to all media.

Tomorrow, Jan. 10, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to New Hampshire, where he will begin by lifting up the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. While in Concord, Secretary Cardona will speak with several current and former teachers as well as union members who have either recently received PSLF or are in the process.

Tomorrow, Jan. 4, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Portsmouth, Virginia, with U.S. Rep. Robert C. “Bobby” Scott, ranking member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, to highlight new federal grant awards to support investments in school infrastructure.
