Eduardo Ochoa, assistant secretary for postsecondary education, will deliver the commencement address to more than 400 graduates at State University of New York (SUNY) College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill on Saturday, May 14. The ceremony will be at 1 p.m. near the Knapp Hall Administration Building.

Kay Hagan (D-NC) at the Center for American Progress, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, where Hagan will introduce new legislation for turning around low-performing schools. During a panel discussion on education reform Hagan will outline her School Turnaround And Rewards (STAR) Act.

The U.S. Education Department will hold a roundtable discussion in Nashville with teachers, families, students, college access professionals, practitioners, and other members of the public to inform federal policy in the areas of teacher preparation and college completion. The discussion will be held on Thursday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. CDT, at Tennessee State University.

Washington Today, the White House announced Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee as the winner of the 2011 Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge. Vice President Joseph Biden called Principal Alisha Kiner today to tell her the school had won.
