Good evening, and thank you Chris, for that kind introduction.
Before we begin, I'd like to thank CCSSO for hosting this event. Your Teacher of the Year program – the oldest of its kind – is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the best teachers our nation has to offer.
I'm delighted to be here and to honor these worthy teachers.

Thank you, Russ, for that kind introduction, and thank you for your work to develop this important report. And thank you to all of you for taking the time to come here today.
This report focuses on something everyone here knows I’m passionate about: increasing education options for parents and students. It’s something I view as a fundamental right too long denied to too many kids. My views on this were shaped early on in my time as a mother.

Thank you, Chairman McKee for that kind introduction. And thank each of you for the hard work you do on behalf of your states.
I'm glad to see you all made it despite the snow. I'm getting used to the weather here in Washington, but I must say, by Michigan standards, this could be considered a balmy March day!
Before we delve into policy, I wanted to tell you a bit about myself. ...
For me, these experiences have combined to form my views:

Thank you, Felton, for that introduction, and thank you, Michael Casserly, for your leadership of the Council, and all of you for the work you do on behalf of kids.
I want to begin by taking a moment to introduce myselfbeyond the headlines and SNL skitsalthough it is flattering to be portrayed by Kate McKinnon, a woman younger than my oldest son.

Thank you, Chairman Walker for that introduction, and my sincere thanks to you and to Sen. Scott for convening this important gathering.
I know you're both champions of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities [HBCUs] you represent, from North Carolina A&T State University to South Carolina's Claflin University.

Hello! Thank you for that warm welcome. I always love the energy and enthusiasm CPAC brings together every year.
I’m Betsy DeVos. You may have heard some of the “wonderful” things the mainstream media has called me lately. I, however, pride myself on being called a mother, a grandmother, a life partner, and perhaps the first person to tell Bernie Sanders to his face that there’s no such thing as a free lunch.
