I'm really looking forward to our conversation, but before we begin, I want to make one thing clear: I believe American higher education is the envy of the world. Thank you for the contributions you have each made to make it so. But in order to keep it that way, there are a few challenges to address.
Like all of education, higher education is due for a rethink.

The role you play in their lives is essential. You are there for them as they take steps on their lifelong learning journeys. They might not always say it, but I will: your impact on students is significant. So, let me take this opportunity to thank you.

China is an important partner and the U.S.-China cooperation based off of mutual respect and shared interests will help ensure the world's stability and future prosperity for decades to come. Education and workforce development has benefited from U.S.-China Dialogue and we look forward to continuing that dialogue today on career and technical education, apprenticeships and business-education partnerships.

For more than 50 years, the George Marshall Space Flight Center has helped design and build the engines, vehicles, and space instruments that make possible what was thought impossible. And Alabama’s own U.S. Space & Rocket Center inspires young campers to embark on missions of science and discovery.
For students across America, the summer break is well over. Classes and homework have resumed. Learning has resumed.
