The White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities (Initiative) will convene its annual national conference Sept. 20-23 in Washington, D.C. This year’s conference is both a tribute to the monumental contributions of HBCUs to this country, as well as an acknowledgement of the critical role these important institutions play in advancing the nation’s global competitiveness.

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 297 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2022. The recognition is based on a school's overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Secretary Cardona made the announcement during his Road to Success Back to School bus tour.
