On Friday, the White House Initiative on Advancing Education Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics will kick off its fourth Latino Economic Summit in partnership with the Aspen Institute. The summit will be headlined by Department of Defense Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Gilbert R. Cisneros Jr. Virtual remarks will also be provided by Rep. Veronica Escobar.

Held at The University of Texas at El Paso, the forum will highlight the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to advancing equity and economic empowerment and connect local El Paso community members directly with federal leaders and resources. The summit will also feature local leaders and the following breakout sessions:

• Entrepreneurship in the Border Region: International Trade, Minority Certifications, and more (presented by U.S. Small Business Administration)
• Advancing Opportunity through Educational Equity, Digital Equity, and Workforce Development (presented by U.S. Department of Education)
• The Economics of a Healthy Community: Emerging Stronger from the Pandemic (presented by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services)
