White House to Host School Discipline Convening
White House to Host School Discipline Convening
WASHINGTON, DC – On Wednesday, July 22, the White House will host Rethink School Discipline, a national convening and conversation on improving school discipline policies and practices. At the meeting, participants will discuss new tools and resources to be released by the Supportive School Discipline Initiative, an interagency initiative launched by the Administration in 2011, along with data and research that underscores the need for further action. School leaders across the country will share best practices used to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline by fostering safe, supportive, and productive learning environments that keep kids in school and out of the juvenile justice system.
MEDIA REGISTRATION: This event will be open press, but space is limited. Members of the media who wish to cover the program in South Court Auditorium must RSVP by 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21st.
Press holding White House hard passes must send their name, media outlet, and email to media_affairs@who.eop.gov with the subject line “School Discipline.” Press not holding White House hard passes must include their full legal name (including middle name), date of birth, Social Security number, gender, country of citizenship, and current city and state of residence.
All press will enter the White House via the northwest gate. If we are able to accommodate your request for credentials, you will receive a confirmation after the deadline to RSVP has passed with further instructions and logistical details.
This event will be streamed live on www.whitehouse.gov/live.
