U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to Discuss School Safety, Community Engagement and Preventing Gun Violence at 14th Annual National Action Network National Convention

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will travel to New York Friday to participate in the 14th Annual National Action Network National Convention and deliver remarks in a special plenary session at 11 a.m., focusing on the importance of keeping schools and communities safe, preventing gun violence and highlighting the need for community engagement.
The conference, honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will bring together influential national leaders in civil rights, government, labor, the church, business, politics, media and activism, to assess where we are today. Some of the topics addressed will include issues of civil rights, education, gun-violence, immigration, jobs, health-care, women’s rights and much more.
