U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education to Visit Richmond’s CodeRVA Regional High School with Sen. Tim Kaine

On Monday, May 15, 2023, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten will participate in the seventh stop of her “Raise the Bar: Lead the World” tour by traveling to  Richmond, Virginia, to promote the Department’s new national pathways initiative, Unlocking Career Success.

Deputy Secretary Marten will be joined by Sen. Tim Kaine —a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee— for a visit to CodeRVA Regional High School, where they will spend time learning about how the school is preparing students for college and careers in computer science and coding. At the school, the Deputy Secretary is expected to announce a new effort to support career-connected learning.

The “Raise the Bar: Lead the World” tour kicked off in January, on the heels of U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona’s major address outlining the U.S. Department of Education’s ambitious future priorities. The tour will continue in other states, which will be announced later.
