Deputy Secretary to Join Local Officials to Celebrate Pride Month and Tour Local High School

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten will be joined by California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, and Long Beach Unified Schools Superintendent Jill Baker as she visits a local high school in Long Beach, California.

Marten and the local officials will join LGBTQ+ students for a closed press roundtable to discuss Pride Month and the supports needed by LGBTQ+ students. Afterwards, the officials will host a press gaggle to discuss what they heard. Additionally, Marten and the officials will tour the school and visit classrooms.
