U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten Continues #ARPStars Tour with Trip to Baltimore

Tomorrow, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten will continue her "ARPStars" tour in Baltimore to highlight ways schools are using American Rescue Plan (ARP) investments to support K-12 students’ academic recovery. She will visit two schools in the Baltimore area. First, Deputy Secretary Marten will visit Harford Heights Elementary School where she will learn about ways the school utilized ARP funds to launch tutoring programs aimed at improving English and Math scores in the school. Afterwards, she will discuss the impact of these programs with parents and teachers.

This year will be one of the most important ever, as our schools and colleges not only work to catch students up and recover from the pandemic, but to put them in a position to succeed at even higher levels than before March 2020.

The American Rescue Plan, which was signed into law by President Biden more than one year ago, provided $130 billion to support reopening and recovery efforts in K-12 schools. These resources have helped schools provide targeted supports to students to accelerate academic recovery.

These visits are part of Deputy Secretary Marten’s “ARPStars” tour to highlight the use of ARP funds in school districts across the country.
