U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, District and Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees to be Honored

Senior officials from government and nonprofit organizations will honor the 2019 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, District Sustainability Awardees, and Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

On hand will be Frank Brogan, assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education at the U.S. Department of Education; Stuart Levenbach, chief of staff at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; James L Elder, Jr., executive director at the Campaign for Environmental Literacy; and Jenny Wiedower, senior manager for K-12 education with Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council.

The award recipients will be recognized for reducing their environmental impact, creating healthy learning environments, and providing real-world sustainability that prepares students to succeed in the 21st century.
