Secretary DeVos to Spotlight Pledge to America’s Workers, Education Freedom Scholarships in South Carolina

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos will be in South Carolina on Thursday, July 18, to promote workforce development and education freedom initiatives championed by the Trump Administration.

First, the Secretary and South Carolina Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman will visit Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corp. headquarters in West Columbia to highlight the company’s participation in the President’s Pledge to America’s Workers. To date, more than 250 companies, including Nephron, have signed on and have pledged to create more than 10 million new employment and job training opportunities over the next five years.

Later, the Secretary will join South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and Superintendent Spearman in Taylors for a roundtable discussion about her Education Freedom Scholarships (EFS) proposal and how it can help enhance education opportunities in the state. They will be joined by families, educators, stakeholders and local elected leaders. This roundtable is the latest in a series of conversations around the country the Secretary has hosted on EFS.
