Secretary Cardona Travels to Oregon with Rep. Salinas to Share Multilingual Agenda as Part of Raise the Bar Priorities

On Thursday, Feb 23, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Woodburn, Oregon, with U.S. Representative Andrea Salinas, to learn first-hand from educators, students and parents about multilingual and multicultural education programs at Valor Middle School. Secretary Cardona and Rep. Salinas will tour the school, and then participate in a roundtable discussion with parents to discuss the importance of multi-lingual accessibility. This trip comes on the heels of Secretary Cardona’s recent major address, “Raise the Bar: Lead the World,” where he laid out his continued priorities to promote academic excellence and creating pathways for global engagements by providing every student a pathway to multilingualism.

A press gaggle will take place following the roundtable conversation.

Earlier in the day, Secretary Cardona will give remarks at the National Association for Bilingual Education 52nd Annual International Bilingual and Bicultural Education Conference. More information on the conference can be found here.
