Secretary Cardona to Tour Howard University Vaccine Site, Meet with University Vaccine Ambassadors

Tomorrow, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will visit Howard University where he will tour their COVID-19 community vaccine clinic and encourage students and members of the public to get vaccinated. This tour will focus on the university's commitment to inoculating college students, a key demographic to achieve President Biden's bold vaccination goals and end the COVID-19 pandemic. Secretary Cardona will meet with Howard pre-med students who are serving as vaccine ambassadors and going into surrounding neighborhoods and communities to encourage more people to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Secretary Cardona will also discuss the American Families Plan, which would provide two years of subsidized tuition and expand programs in high-demand fields at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, including Howard University, Tribal Colleges and Universities and other minority-serving institutions.

The tour will be followed by a brief press gaggle with Secretary Cardona.

Since January 2021, Howard University has safely provided over 40,000 vaccine doses to employees, students, and community members through their Howard University Faculty Practice Plan.
