On Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Orangeburg, South Carolina, with Majority Whip James E. Clyburn to meet with Historically Black College and University (HBCU) leaders from across the state and speak with students from South Carolina State University (SC State) about pandemic recovery and how they've been supported by their university and the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).

Under the American Rescue Plan (ARP), HBCUs in South Carolina have received more than $112 million in funding and just last month, SC State and Clinton College were awarded an additional $5 million through ARP.

The Biden-Harris Administration remains committed to ensuring recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and investing in our nation's HBCUs. In 2021 alone, the Administration delivered a $5.8 billion investment to HBCUs.
