Secretary Cardona to Tour Manchester Community College and Speak to Veterans About Transformational Changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program

On Thursday, Nov. 4, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Manchester, New Hampshire, to speak with veterans about transformational changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) ProgramLast month, the Department announced an overhaul of the PSLF Program that will restore its promise and provide debt relief to public service workers including service members and veterans. The latest updates to the program will eliminate barriers for military service members to receive PSLF.  Additionally, the newly implemented PSLF Waiver will result in at least 22,000 borrowers who have consolidated loans—including previously ineligible loans—being immediately eligible for $1.74 billion in forgiveness without the need for further action on their part. Secretary Cardona will tour Manchester Community College, then speak with members of the veteran community about the benefits of the updated PSLF program.
