On Thursday, March 31, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Orlando with U.S. Rep. Darren Soto to speak with students and families on Transgender Day of Visibility. They will visit a local school to learn more about how the district is using Title I funds and American Rescue Plan (ARP) investments to support K-12 students’ recovery from the pandemic.

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will continue touring schools in Southern California with a visit to Los Angeles High School of the Arts at Robert F. Kennedy Community School. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho will join Secretary Cardona on the tour.

From Monday through Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Southern California. During his trip he will speak at the Carnegie Foundation's Summit on Improvement in Education, where he will discuss strategies to support students and educators through pandemic recovery and reimagining education.

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will join Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell and American Red Cross President and CEO Gail McGovern on Tuesday, March 8, for a children’s reading event focusing on emergency preparedness. The event will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Boston to visit Rafael Hernández K-8 Elementary School, the oldest dual-language community school in the city. Joined by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and Superintendent Brenda Cassellius, he will tour the school and speak with students, teachers, and parents about the importance of multilingual learning.

This week, Deputy Secretary Cindy Marten and Assistant Secretary of the Office for Civil Rights Catherine E. Lhamon will kick off a season of commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX by speaking Thursday at the U.S. Postal Service’s First Day of Issue event to unveil four new Title IX-inspired stamps. The stamps feature four female athletes: a runner, a swimmer, a gymnast, and a soccer player.
