On Monday, Sept. 20, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will launch the “Return to School Road Trip”—a bus tour to showcase students and communities safely returning to in-person learning—with several events in Wisconsin. First, Secretary Cardona will visit Eau Claire for a tour of Locust Lane Elementary School and a Return to School Pep Rally.

The City of Meriden will be holding a 9/11 Ceremony outside of City Hall Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. Secretary Cardona will give brief remarks during the ceremony. This year is the 20th Anniversary of the tragic terror attacks that took the lives of 2,977 men, women and children in New York City, Arlington, Virginia, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

On Tuesday, Sept. 7, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, where he will join U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean to visit Montgomery County Community College. Secretary Cardona and Congresswoman Dean will tour the college and hold two roundtable policy discussions with educators and students. The roundtables will include a discussion on the future of education and the Build Back Better agenda and a listening session with students from area colleges.

On Friday, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Waterbury, Connecticut and join U.S. Representative Jahana Hayes for a tour of various Waterbury Public Schools. Secretary Cardona and Representative Hayes will also learn how the schools utilized American Rescue Plan funds to get students ready for safe, in-person learning ahead of the new school year.
