Following State of the Union, Secretary Cardona Travels to Omaha, Nebraska, to Discuss Career-Technical Programs and Mental Health Supports for Students

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Omaha, Nebraska, where he will focus on career pathways and mental health programs. Secretary Cardona will first head to Omaha Public Schools’ Bryan High School to tour its Urban Agriculture, Design & Construction, and Transportation & Logistics academies, as well as have a conversation with students about their experience in a career-technical education (CTE) program. He will also participate in a roundtable with principals, superintendents, and therapists to discuss the mental health services provided to students in rural communities at Educational Service Unit #3.

A press gaggle will take place following the roundtable conversation with students at Bryan High School.

This trip comes on the heels of Secretary Cardona’s recent major address, “Raise the Bar: Lead the World,” where he laid out his continued priorities to promote academic excellence and prepare for global competitiveness, and the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to ensuring states, school districts, and schools have the support they need to prepare students for the 21st century global economy.
