Education Department, NASA to Host Fireside Chat to Spotlight How Title IX Has Helped Women Enter, Succeed in STEM Fields

In honor of Women’s History Month, the U.S. Department of Education and NASA will team up to host a livestreamed, fireside chat Thursday, celebrating the partnership between the two agencies and elevating the role of Title IX in exposing girls and women to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs. The event, titled, “50 Years of Title IX: Breaking Down Barriers in STEM,” will be livestreamed from 4:20 to 4:45 p.m. ET Thursday.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten and NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy will use this year’s 50th anniversary of Title IX to spotlight the vast opportunities that now exist for women to enter and succeed in STEM fields.

Their conversation will be available on the Education Department’s online accounts on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, as well as broadcast on NASA Television.
