Assistant U.S. Education Secretary Stump to Visit Albuquerque’s St. Pius X High School & Santa Fe Community College as Part of 2019 National Back to School Tour
Assistant U.S. Secretary of Education Scott Stump will visit Albuquerque’s St. Pius X High School and Santa Fe Community College Tuesday as part of the U.S. Department of Education’s 2019 National Back to School Tour.
Stump will begin his day from 9 to 10:30 a.m. by touring St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque. The assistant secretary will visit classrooms and interact with students at the private college preparatory school, which has a diverse enrollment and is part of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. St. Pius has a 96% college acceptance rate. A press availability will be held at 10:30 a.m.
From 1:30 to 3 p.m., Stump will visit Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe which offers students multiple pathways to fulfilling, in-demand careers. There, he will tour the campus, including the Trades and Advanced Technology section where he will see a welding class and visit the Health and Science wing of the school. The college serves more than 15,000 students per year. A press availability will be held at 3 p.m.
Stump is one of several top Education Department officials crisscrossing the nation this week as part of the Department’s annual National Back to School Tour – spotlighting schools that are rethinking education to better serve students.
