ED’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) administers three formula grant programs authorized by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These formula grants are awarded to states annually to support early-intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families, preschool children ages three through five, and special education for children and youth with disabilities.
Part B Formula Grants
These funds, awarded under the IDEA, are appropriated by Congress and are intended to support early intervention and special education services for infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities and their families. The IDEA Part B, Sections 611 (Grants to States) and 619 (Preschool Grants for Children with Disabilities) formula grant programs assist states in providing a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment for children with disabilities ages 3 through 21.
Part C Formula Grants
