2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools
 

The U.S. Department of Education recognized 356 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2024. This recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments. These schools demonstrate what is possible to make an enduring, positive difference in students’ lives. The Department will formally recognize the schools at an awards ceremony on November 7 and 8, 2024 in Washington, DC. 

The 2024 cohort are in 45 States, the District of Colombia, and Department of Defense Education Activity schools in England, Germany and at West Point. They represent (316) public and (40) non-public schools. Of the 356 schools, (14) schools were recognized in both the Exemplary High Performing and Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools categories, (285) schools were recognized as Exemplary High Performing Schools and (57) schools were recognized as Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools. The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools represent the full diversity of American schools and serve students of every background. They include (20) PreK-12 Schools, (229) Elementary Schools (43) Middle Schools (64) High Schools, (24) Charter Schools, (141) Title I Schools, and (23) Magnet Schools.

While awardee schools represent the diverse fabric of American schools, they also share some core elements. National Blue Ribbon School leaders articulate a vision of excellence and hold everyone to high standards. The schools value and support staff and teachers where effective and innovative teaching and learning practices occur. Data from many sources are used to drive instruction and every student strives for success. Families, communities, and educators work together toward common goals. National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective and innovative school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation.
