The Rehabilitation Long-Term Training (RLTT) program supports academic training grants that are awarded to colleges and universities with undergraduate and graduate programs in the field of vocational rehabilitation (VR). Grantees must direct at least 65 percent of their total project costs to trainee scholarships.
The Rehabilitation of Individuals With Mental Health Disorders or Illnesses grant supports projects that must be designed to support students enrolled in rehabilitation services (RSA scholars) interested in pursuing a degree or certificate for careers that provide specialized services to individuals who have mental health disorders or illnesses and are participants in the State VR programs. Additionally, projects must be designed to prepare RSA scholars to address a range of issues in VR services for individuals with mental health disorders or illnesses to assist them to achieve and maintain competitive integrated employment.
Payback Information Management System (PIMS)
For the Rehabilitation Long-Term Training (RLTT) program, grantees are required by Federal regulation to report data to RSA annually on all RSA scholars who receive financial assistance via the Payback Information Management System (PIMS). PIMS is an online data collection system designed not only to collect and analyze data but also track the service obligations of RSA scholars funded by RLTT grants. It is available year-round and can be accessed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by grantees, RSA scholars, and employers. Grantees are also required to report immediately to RSA through PIMS whenever an RSA scholar has entered repayment status pursuant to 34 CFR 386.43 (e) and ensure all related documents (signed payback agreement, exit certification form, and amount of funding) concerning the RSA scholar are also in PIMS.
Should you require assistance with PIMS or have questions regarding the payback component of the RLTT program, please contact the RLTT Help Desk staff at (800) 832-8142 or email RLTTHelpDesk@ed.gov Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
