Federal TRIO Programs

The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuit of higher education.

Educational Opportunity Centers

Provides counseling and information on college admissions to qualified adults who want to enter postsecondary education (ALN: 84.066A)

Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program

Funding for institutions of higher education to prepare eligible participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research (ALN: 84.217A)

Student Support Services Program

Funding to institutions of higher education to assist postsecondary student retention and graduation (ALN: 84.042A).

Talent Search Program

Identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education (ALN: 84.044).

Upward Bound Program

Provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance (ALN: 84.047A).

Upward Bound Math-Science

Provides funding to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students (ALN: 84.047M).

Veterans Upward Bound Program

Assists veterans in the development of academic skills necessary for acceptance and success in a program of postsecondary education (ALN: 84.047V).

Training Program for Federal TRIO Programs

Supports training to enhance the skills and expertise of project directors and staff employed in the Federal TRIO Programs (ALN: 84.103A).
