On Thursday, August 1, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he will speak to borrowers who recently received debt relief through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. Secretary Cardona will also participate in a roundtable conversation with city employees to lift up the efforts by the city to enroll and qualify as many city workers as possible in PSLF.
As the Biden-Harris Administration continues to deliver historic relief for student loan borrowers — approving $68 billion for 942,000 Americans — the U.S. Department of Education is committed to the promise of the PSLF program by helping more hardworking public service workers reach full forgiveness. Under the Administration, more than 4.76 million Americans have received debt relief, and the Department continues its work to align regulatory, structural, and relief efforts to make the program simpler to navigate and eliminate unnecessary barriers that have previously prevented borrowers from making progress toward forgiveness.
