U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Georgia to engage with local officials, area students, and career and technical education stakeholders.

First, with the upcoming anniversary of Title IX, Cardona will join Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and local officials for a tour of the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation and Aquatic Center. The center provides academic and fitness opportunities for children in the area. Also, the Secretary will meet with participants of the Atlanta Teen Leaders Girls Empowerment Academy. This week, the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of Title IX—the historic civil rights law that expanded opportunities for women and girls in sports and academics.

Additionally, Cardona will provide remarks at the opening ceremony for the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta. The conference is a showcase of career and technical education (CTE) students. Cardona, a former CTE student, has made strengthening the education system's pathway to strong careers a priority at the Department. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
