U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to Travel to Hawaii to Uplift Wildfire Response and Academic Recovery Programs

On Friday, Dec. 6, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Maui, Hawaii, for engagements focused on the academic recovery in K-12 schools from the 2023 wildfires.

On Friday, Dec. 6, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Maui, Hawaii, for engagements focused on the academic recovery in K-12 schools from the 2023 wildfires. 

Secretary Cardona will tour King Kamehameha III Elementary, a wildfire recovery site, and participate in a roundtable with community and education leaders to discuss their wildfire response efforts. Afterwards, he will tour Lahainaluna High School, and he will participate in a roundtable with Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE) community liaisons focused on the best practices to support academic recovery.  

Secretary Cardona will participate in a gaggle following these events.
