On Thursday, July 18, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, along with U.S. Rep. James E. Clyburn, will travel to Denmark, South Carolina to tour two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Voorhees University and Denmark Technical College. Following the tours, Secretary Cardona and Rep. Clyburn will speak to borrowers who recently received debt relief through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

These events continue the commitment of the Biden-Harris Administration to make higher education more affordable for all. This past May, the Administration announced a record total of more than $16 billion of federal funds in support for HBCUs. Through continued efforts in supporting advancements of intergenerational economic mobility for Black families, both the Department and the Administration seek to uplift the Black community.

This visit is part of the fifth Investing in America tour: Investing in America, Made in America where President Biden’s Cabinet and White House officials will travel across the country to highlight how President Biden’s policies are lowering costs, creating good jobs, rebuilding America’s infrastructure, and spurring investments in manufacturing so that goods are once again made in America by American workers.
