On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will travel to Chicago to participate in the White House Initiative Latino Regional Economic Summit at the Malcolm X College. Secretary Cardona will be joined by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, U.S. Rep. Danny K. Davis, U.S. Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García, Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, Biden-Harris Administration senior officials, and Illinois leaders.
The White House Initiative Latino Economic Summit in Chicago is the third in a series that began in March in San Antonio following a partnership announcement between the Biden-Harris Administration and the Aspen Institute. These forums highlight the Administration’s commitment to advancing equity and economic empowerment and connect local Latino community members directly with federal leaders and resources.
After the summit, Secretary Cardona will address Latino leaders at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) 39th Annual Conference.
Both stops will include press availability.
