Higher Education Act
Most Office of Postsecondary Education programs and activities are authorized under the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. The Higher Education Opportunity Act (Public Law 110-315) (HEOA) was enacted on August 14, 2008, and reauthorizes the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA).
An unofficial compilation of the Higher Education Act was published by the U.S. House of Representatives Office of Legislative Counsel. This compilation is current through July 1, 2009.

Prior to the enactment of the HEOA, The Higher Education Act was last reauthorized in 1998.
