The mission of the Office of Migrant Education (OME) is to provide excellent leadership, technical assistance, and financial support to improve the educational opportunities and academic success of migratory children, youth, agricultural workers, fishers, and their families. OME administers several contracts to support its grant programs. OME's grant programs include:

  • College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) — Assists students who are migratory or seasonal farmworkers (or children of such workers) enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies at an IHE.
  • High School Equivalency Program (HEP) - Helps migratory and seasonal farmworkers (or children of such workers) who are 16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma and, subsequently, to gain employment or begin postsecondary education or training.
  • Title I, Part C: Migrant Education Program (MEP) - Funds academic and supportive services for the children of families who migrate to find work in the agricultural and fishing industries.
  • MEP Consortium Incentive Grant (CIG) Program - Provides financial incentives to State Educational Agencies (SEAs) to participate in high quality consortia that improve the interstate or intrastate coordination of migrant education programs by addressing key needs of migratory children who have their education interrupted.
