Teacher-to-Teacher Training Corps, Call for Trainers in Specific Subject Areas
Deadline for New Applications—Friday, December 2, 2005

The US Department of Education is extending the Call for Trainers for the Teacher-to-Teacher Training Corps.

New applications will be accepted for the following areas only:

  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • English-middle and secondary grades
  • Reading-middle and secondary grades
  • History
  • Civics
  • Arts
  • Character Education

The deadline to submit an application to present in one of the areas listed above is December 2, 2005, 11pm EST.

Applications for the Training Corps from the original Call for Trainers are still being reviewed. Applicants who have already submitted a presentation in one of these areas should not resubmit.

General Information about the Teacher-to-Teacher Training Corps

The Corps will consist of effective teachers and practitioners who will provide on-site technical assistance and regional workshops for teachers and districts over the next twelve months. This team is an expansion of the Teacher-to-Teacher Workshops that have been offered in cities across the nation for the past two summers.

We are looking for teachers and school leaders who are using strategies based in scientific research and have data demonstrating effectiveness. Trainers will share the research underlying these practices and their experience with implementing them in classrooms and schools. The goal of the Teacher-to-Teacher Training Corps is to support district level professional development efforts by providing demonstrations by expert teacher and administrators of ways to improve academic performance through increased content knowledge and improved pedagogical skill.
