Ways to Decompose

This slide shows some ways the numbers 53 and 26 can be decomposed to make the subtraction easier. 53 can be decomposed into 40 + 13 or 40 + 10 + 3. 26 can be decomposed into 20 + 3 + 3. These are but a few of the ways these numbers can be decomposed.
