Explanation of slide: This graphic demonstrates one way that a teacher could explain the use of multiple reading comprehension strategies. It is a picture of a city with street names like prediction street, monitor street, clarify drive, question street, and summarize street. This graphic is used to explain to students that when we are reading material that is easy for us we will know how to get directly where we want to go so we may only need to use one or two comprehension strategies to get us there. However, if we are lost and reading something that is difficult for us we may need to use lots of different reading strategies to help us understand the text we are reading.
