Renaming Fractions Using a Number Line and Parts of a Whole

Explanation for slide:

The first graphic shows two number lines of equal length. This graphic shows that you can rename the fraction 2/4 in the first number line to ½ in the second number line. 2/4=1/2

The second graphic shows two circles of equal size. One circle has been equally divided into 18 parts with six of the parts shaded in. The other circle is divided into three equal parts with one part shaded in. This graphic shows parts of a whole and that when 6/18 is reduced it equals 1/3.
