Even if no one in your family ever went to college, that doesn't mean that no one will. All it takes is for one person in a family to act upon that dream, and by their example others can follow. That first person can be you!

It takes a lot of courage and determination to be the first in anything. It also takes a lot of support. Talk to your teacher, counselor or principal about what college is and how to prepare. Ask questions! Find out what you can do to get ready now by taking classes in middle school or junior high that will prepare you! Ask if your school has a mentor program to help you succeed in education after high school. Look around you for role models. And find people like you who have succeeded. Ask them how they did it!

Be the best you can! Life is an amazing opportunity. Anything is possible if you try hard enough!
