Purpose:   This grant provides for a national training, technical assistance and dissemination program for personnel of Client Assistance Programs (CAPs). The goal of this program is to promote social change for people with disabilities through training and technical assistance for personnel of client assistance services and related programs. It will enhance the CAP personnel competencies in serving culturally diverse individuals with disabilities and upgrade CAP personnel skills in meeting and exceeding the needs of diverse populations with disabilities. The efforts will ultimately facilitate employment outcomes for clients and client applicants of programs who receive funding under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

Purpose:   The goals of this project are:
  1. identify and gather rehabilitation information and training materials for use in preparing pre-service and post-employment education and training for rehabilitation and
  2. to disseminate, cost effectively, rehabilitation information and training materials for use in preparing pre-service and post-employment training for rehabilitation personnel and users.
To achieve these goals the National Clearinghouse of Rehabilitation Training Materials (NCHTM) has the following objectives:
  1. to increase the collection of training materials by 20 percent per year of funding;
  2. to promote access of rehabilitation training resources developed by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, the Office of Special Education Programs, Educational Resources Information Center and other sponsored projects in addition to RSA sources;
  3. to promote online computer services that allow users easy and convenient access to NCRTM holdings using the World Wide Web;
  4. to improve organization, storage, retrieval and circulation of the NCRTM materials collection of documents and audiovisual resources through electronic catalogs and inventory systems;
  5. to continue providing copies of resources within 24 to 48 hours of receiving a request; and
  6. to facilitate the recruitment of qualified rehabilitation personnel in the public rehabilitation program via a job bank for rehabilitation professionals on the World Wide Web

Purpose:   The purpose of this program is to improve the leadership skills among top-level managers and administrators of the State Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program. The leadership training program focuses on leadership skills as applied to the unique issues facing the vocational rehabilitation agencies in a peer setting.
