Prosthetics and Orthotics
These grants help colleges and universities provide scholarships to students interested in pursuing careers in prosthetics or orthotics. An ABC-Certified Prosthetist Orthotist provides care to people requiring the replacement of a partially or completely absent extremity (artificial limb or prosthesis) or the custom-making and -fitting of an orthopedic brace (orthosis) to a disabled spine or extremity. Professional practice includes assessment of patient needs, prescription recommendation, fabrication, fitting and evaluation of the prosthesis or orthosis.
