Transcript studies

One course each in:
Algebra II/Biology/Chemistry/Physics

  • 30% (20%) of all (Black) students
  • 15% (11%) of all (Black) general academic students
  • 40% (32%) of all (Black) college preparatory students

Speaker's notes:

Transcript studies demonstrate that far too few of our nation's students have adequate preparation in math and science. Many would consider 4 courses, Algebra II/Biology/Chemistry/Physics, as minimal preparation. This slide shows that only about 30% of high school graduates take such a sequence. The percentages are significantly lower among blacks.
