About the Author

Susan D. Otterbourg is the program director of The Conference Board's Business and Education Conference. For more than 35 years, she has had a rich and diversified career in education, serving as both an elementary and secondary school teacher, a district administrator, a school board trustee, and a consultant to urban and suburban school districts, government, and business. She is an authority on the development, implementation, and evaluation of partnerships involving business, education, and the community. Her most recent Conference Board report is A Business Guide to Support Employee and Family Involvement in Education.

Dr. Otterbourg is an honors graduate of Smith College and has a master's degree from Queens College, New York, and master's and doctorate degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University.
