The author Charles L. Gary is a former Executive Director of the Music Educators National Conference. He is currently Professor of Music at the Catholic University of America and a consultant in education and the arts. He has also taught at Purdue, American, George Mason and Austin Peay State universities. He is the author of many books including Flower Fables and A History of American Music Education (with Michael Mark). He has been recognized by awards from the Yale University Band, The College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, the National Dance Association, and was recently inducted into MENC's Music Educators Hall of Fame.
