The Role of Leadership in Sustaining School Reform: Voices From the Field - July 1996
Acknowledgments
This report is the result of the efforts of three groups of professionals. At the U. S. Department of Education, Deputy Secretary Madeleine Kunin made the project of the Principal in Residence a top priority and provided ongoing encouragement. The leadership subteam of the Department's Professional Development Team met monthly to review forum plans, discuss report development, and generate ideas. The subteam included Alicia Coro, Theresa Dozier, Menahem Herman, Faye Jonas, Hunter Moorman, Valerie Rockefeller, Jonathan Schnur, Joseph Vaughan, and Eulada Watt. Interns Jennifer Mead and Smeeta Ramarathnam also participated.
At Policy Studies Associates, Inc. , Lisa Weiner, Eileen O'Brien, Miriam Gonzales, Angela Williams, Peter Youngs, Dan Murphy, and David Goldstein documented the proceedings of forums and helped with data analysis and report preparation.
The substance of the report represents the contributions of school leaders all over the country. Principals, teachers, district office staff, and parents gathered for extended discussions in Washington, DC; Louisville, Kentucky; Winchester, Massachusetts; Phoenix, Arizona; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Kansas City, Missouri; San Francisco, California; Columbus, Georgia; and Seattle, Washington. Many were identified and invited by the Department's secretary's regional representatives, to whom we are grateful for support.
