HOSTS Supplemental Math

HOSTS Supplemental Math. A supplemental program that provides students the opportunity to: learn to value mathematics; become confident in their own abilities; become a mathematical problem solver; learn to communicate mathematically; and learn to respond mathematically. Approved by JDRP for math instruction for elementary and junior high students.

Description HOSTS Supplemental Math is based on the belief that students need to learn mathematics in a way that is meaningful to them. The use of manipulatives and participative learning is highly stressed. Teachers are provided with lesson plans and activities for each objective which are designed to build a conceptual understanding before proceeding to the level of practice and application. The sequential system of objectives is aligned with the National Math Standards of the National Council of Teacher of Mathematics and covers nine levels, Readiness through Grade 8.

HOSTS Supplemental Math is compatible with all major math basal series. Lesson plans, activities, manuals, tests, and answer sheets are provided. Teachers also have access to the HOSTS computerized database and software that matches thousand of math resources, including literature, to state frameworks and local objectives. The HOSTS software also features a student record system, math problem generator, as well as a prescription program.

HOSTS Supplemental Math has been designed to offer teachers options to accommodate various learning styles and provide a fun-to-learn atmosphere for instructors and students.
