Audience PEP approved for all students K-12, including regular and ungraded classroom, Chapter 1, special education, at-risk, migrant, ESL, and after school programs for public and nonpublic school programs.
Description The goal of CLIMB Plus is to improve the performance of all students in reading, writing, study skills, and mathematics through the following components.
Curriculum framework, a coordinated program of instruction produced by teachers which includes:
Training, provides teachers with a systematic way to manage a student's instructional program in reading/writing and mathematics. Training includes:
Management Design: Coordinates and Integrates Personnel, Materials, and Services.
CLIMB Plus provides a means to tie together existing curriculum, textbooks, materials, goals and outcomes in a clear, concise program tailored to an individual school's needs. CLIMB Plus creates a cohesive curriculum framework for continuous student progress. The program addresses Goal 3 of the National Goals for Education.
Evidence of Effectiveness CLIMB Plus significantly increases and sustains the academic achievement of regular and compensatory education students in reading and mathematics, grades K-12, as measured by nationally recognized standardized achievement tests and as compared with national norms.
Requirements Teachers and administrators participate in training for effective utilization of CLIMB Plus curriculum and management design. Follow-up training sessions are recommended. Teachers must be supplied with the CLIMB Plus curriculum materials. The program can be adopted in reading/writing and/or mathematics at any or all grade levels and programs. CLIMB Plus can be implemented by a district, school, or a team of teachers.
Costs Start-up costs are approximately $85-$160 per classroom teacher for curriculum materials and supplies. Maintenance costs are minimal. Training costs are negotiable.
Services Awareness materials are available at no cost. Visitors are welcome at the Project site by appointment. Project staff are available to attend out-of-state awareness meetings. Implementation and follow-up services are available to adopters.
