This national non-profit organization works with school districts, colleges of education, and state departments of education to enhance their capacity to recruit, select, and train outstanding new teachers. The website describes the organization's efforts to develop programs to attract high-achieving individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of under-served children and to prepare those leaders to be successful in the classroom.

Troops to Teachers
Troops to Teachers is a U.S. Department of Education and Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel begin a new career as teachers in public schools where their skills, knowledge, and experience are most needed. This site includes information about a pilot program, Spouses to Teachers, which assists spouses of active duty military and Selected Reserves pursue K-12 teaching positions.

Western Governors University Teacher's College
This U.S. Department of Education-funded program provides competency-based degree and licensure programs in an on-line format for both current and aspiring teachers.
